There seem to be a lot of misconceptions about LOH (Ladies of Harley). Ladies of Harley is a program sponsored by the Harley Owners Group to support women motorcycle enthusiasts. Notice I did not say Riders. It does not matter whether you are a passenger or ride your own, you can be a part of LOH! Ladies of Harley was established to encourage women to become more active in H.O.G. and in their local chapters. The meetings are held on the FIRST WEDNESDAY OF EVERY MONTH at 6:30 PM at Dillinger’s Food and Spirits, 1202 Centaur Village Road in Lafayette.

Did you know being a member of Ladies of Harley is FREE? It is not, however, automatic. If you are a national H.O.G. member, you can join, regardless of whether you are a full, life, or associate member. You must contact H.O.G. and tell them you'd like to be a member of LOH. Just call 1-800-CLUB-HOG or go to Harley Owners Group, log into the members only area, then go to Update Membership Profile. Click the yes option for LOH and you're done! After you've joined, you will receive an LOH embroidered patch and an LOH pin each year in addition to the annual H.O.G. patch and pin.

All High Country H.O.G. LADIES, MEN, and GUESTS are invited to attend. This meeting is a perfect place to meet other women members, ask questions, and get the latest Chapter information. The meetings last approximately 1 hour. It is a time to share information, socialize, and enjoy a meal. Stop by for a meeting with us.

LOH sponsors monthly activities, which are open to ALL chapter members. Our activities this year include bowling night, potluck dinner and movie night, wine-tasting, mystery dinner rides, and educational topics of interest to women riders. A complete list of our activities is on the Chapter calendar. Last year we had a Ladies Only Experienced Rider Class, and the participants are STILL talking about how much fun it was.

LOH also supports two local charities. In September we hold a Chili Cook-Off to benefit the Longmont Humane Society. This event has been growing bigger every year! Last year, the Chili Cook-Off and Rebels for the Paws ride raised $3,000 for the Humane Society.

We also sponsor an annual Garage Sale to raise money to benefit the Safe Shelter of St. Vrain. Safe Shelter is a nonprofit organization that provides safety, support and resources to individuals affected by domestic abuse. It promotes empowerment through direct services and community education, advocating for the right of every individual to live a life free of intimidation, exploitation and abuse. The Board of Directors and the staff at Safe Shelter have a vision to provide the tools to empower our community to break the cycle of domestic violence.

This year will be our 4th Annual Garage Sale. We have raised hundreds of dollars over the past three years. But we can’t do these things without the generosity of the entire Chapter. You can help out in several ways, by saving items to donate for the sale when you do your Spring Cleaning and by volunteering to help on the day of the sale. This year’s date is Saturday, May 22nd 2010.

A personal note from the L.O.H. Officer:

I have been a Chapter and L.O.H. member since 2005, and this is my second year as the LOH Officer. Until last year, I rode passenger with my boyfriend but thanks in large part to the encouragement and enthusiasm of the other L.O.H .members, I am now the proud rider of a 2010 Street Glide Trike. Why a trike, you ask (and believe me, a lot of people have asked). As you can see from the picture (coming soon!), it’s a pretty unique ride and a lot of fun! And having fun is what we are all about.
